Richard Mille has always been known for its technology, which is the tourbillon mechanism. This along with the specific design, materials and limited quantity has allowed the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer to raise prices and become one of the top expensive watches in the world. The RM52-01 Tourbillon Skull Nano-Ceramic is the second piece of the Richard Mille Skull collection launched in 2012. This model stands out both for its choice of materials and the way it has been crafted. The RM 52-01 is released as a limited edition of only 30 pieces. It’s listed just above €600,000.
The RM 52-01 Tourbillon Skull is equipped with the RM 052 manual winding tourbillon caliber built on a baseplate in PVD-treated grade 5 titanium. Differing from the “normal” RM 52, the skull and back of the skull are now sculpted from 5N red gold and are hand-bevelled. For the case, Richard Mille has used an unprecedented composite material known as nano-ceramic.
Last year the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov caused a lot of commotion when he was spotted wearing a Richard Mille RM52-01 Tourbillon Skull during his wedding to Olympic ice dancer Tatiana Navka.
